The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) confirmed that three overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) died in a fire that broke out in a residential building in Kuwait Wednesday morning.
According to Migrant Worker Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, three OFWs died as a result of smoke inhalation.
The deceased were among those 11 OFWs employed by the same Kuwaiti construction firm that was inside the building that caught fire.
According to the DMW, two OFWs in the hospital are in severe condition, while six others are safe and healthy.
Meanwhile, PH officials are contacting all 11 impacted OFWs’ families and relatives.
The secretary has also directed the OWWA and the Migrant Workers Office in Kuwait to assist the PH Embassy in Kuwait in repatriating the remains of the three deceased OFWs.
Initial reports say that 49 have already been recorded dead but did not disclose any details yet at that time.
