Manama: Demonstrating unwavering dedication to the advancement of the Filipino community in Bahrain, the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), in collaboration with the Filipino Club Bahrain and the Philippine Teachers Association in Bahrain (PTAB), successfully concluded the second batch of their free IELTS Preparatory Course on May 9, 2025, at the Majestic Hotel.

This impactful five-day intensive training program empowered over 50 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) residing in Bahrain. The curriculum was meticulously designed to enhance their proficiency in the four key components of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)—listening, reading, writing, and speaking. By strengthening these essential skills, the initiative aims to significantly broaden pathways for OFWs to achieve their educational aspirations, advance their careers, and realize their migration goals.

The course was expertly facilitated by a distinguished team of seasoned lecturers: Dr. Arthur Basbas, Ms. Kathrina Canosa, Ms. Arlene Garcia, and Mr. Joseph Cañete, with valuable support from co-lecturers Ms. Nadine Zarate, Mr. Jobert Camino, Mr. Clarence Nilo Serquenia Jr., and Ms. Anna Liza Valencia.
The graduation ceremony was honored by the presence of Her Excellency Ambassador Anne Jalando-on Louis, the Philippine Ambassador to Bahrain. Ambassador Louis delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the significance of lifelong learning and perseverance in achieving personal and professional success. Together with Ms. Celia Cabadonga, Officer-in-Charge of the MWO, and Ms. Juvilyn Anns B. Gumabay, OWWA Welfare Officer, Ambassador Louis personally presented certificates of completion to the graduates. Plaques of appreciation were also awarded to the dedicated lecturers and collaborating partner organizations in recognition of their invaluable contributions.

This significant event not only celebrates the successful completion of the IELTS Preparatory Course but also highlights the strong commitment of the Filipino community in Bahrain towards continuous personal and professional development. It stands as a testament to the productive synergy between Philippine government agencies, dedicated community organizations, and passionate educators working collaboratively to empower overseas Filipino workers and facilitate their global aspirations.
