Despite the recent ACL injury that sidelined her during UAAP Season 86, Farm Fresh has successfully recruited Lorene Toring, the 23-year-old middle blocker standout from Adamson University, for the upcoming Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.
A week before the UAAP, Toring suffered a knee injury due to a slip during practice.
In her final season with Adamson during Season 85, Toring played a crucial role in guiding the team to the Final Four. Unfortunately, their journey came to an end after a defeat to National University.
Anticipated to be sidelined for a significant part of the PVL season due to her injury, Toring is set to join the Foxies’ middle blocker rotation upon receiving clearance to play. This rotation includes players like Riza Cruz, Camill Avila, Aprylle Tagsip, Joan Narit, and Jaycel Delos Reyes.
Interestingly, this move exempts the 5-foot-11 middle blocker from participating in the PVL Rookie Draft scheduled for this June.
In a parallel development, Farm Fresh’s sister team, Strong Group, revealed its preliminary pool on Thursday.
The team’s outside hitters comprise Justine Rebleza, Dolly Versoza, Javen Sabas, Merry Rose Jauculan, and Angeli Cane. In the opposite spiker rotation, Souzan Raslan and Jana Sta. Maria, Ayumi Furukawa, Sheeka Espinosa, and Grace Fornillos are featured.
The middle position will be handled by Lilet Mabbayad, Mary Joy Onofre, Grenlen Malapit, Noheli Cerdena, and Nikkie Baldizanso, while liberos Jean Licauco and Melanie Romero will anchor the defense.
Completing the roster are setters Chumcee Ann Caole and Vira Guillema.
Strong Group is poised to make two additional cuts this week as they finalize their lineup, with Onyok Getigan serving as the team’s head coach.
