Sometime ago, a very young LA Santos was introduced in showbiz industry as a singer because of his love for music. It wasn’t long after, he immediately recorded an album, which was released under Star Records. His song “Di Maghihiwalay” was included in the official soundtrack of the movie “Darna” where he also played a role.
In just a matter of time, he did guestings in several shows until he took the center stage for his major concert titled “Petmalu” at the Music Museum where he introduced his brand of music to a wider audience.

Other movie roles followed until LA earned a widely-praised performance for his portrayal of a special child Tim, in the movie “In His Mother’s Eyes” that is now showing in cinemas nationwide.
During the media conference held recently in Quezon City, some clips of the movie were presented to the movie press and LA showed that he is bound to be a great actor of his generation.
He is featured with Maricel Soriano who plays his mother Lucy who left him under the care of his twin brother Roderick Paulate and the scenes where LA displayed his acting prowess as a special child Tim alongside great thespians were unexpected of him as a new actor.
In an interview, LA narrated that he really prepared for the role to make it realistic and followed the advice of Maricel Soriano who, he fondly calls Inay Maria, to act from the heart and to just enjoy it, which he did. He was so proud to address the veteran actress as his second mom, and how he appreciated Maricel’s gestures of putting on blankets on him while he was sleeping.

Asked on the challenging scenes in the movie, LA said that every scene was challenging especially his confrontation scenes with Maricel, where he needed to push her and the actress slumped on the floor. “After that scene, I really cried and said. ‘I am so sorry’ to Inay Maria. She understood that we had to make it real, LA confessed.” But joked it was a privilege to do that scene towards a veteran actress like the Diamond Star. Also challenging are the long encyclopedic lines about the food they are eating, according to the actor.
To prepare for his role as a special child, he seriously explained that he immersed himself with special children from Best Batch Foundation who takes care of special children. He observed their moves, talked to them and inquired every aspect of their well-being. He also talked to their moms about their plight, how they take care of their special children. A self-confessed mama’s boy, and proud to be one because he exclaimed that mama’s boys turn out to be good lovers because they are respectful. His answers really proved how his mother, Flor Santos has raised him well and he is every mother’s pride. LA said that this movie will make you love your mothers more.
Truth to tell, LA translated his role on the big screen perfectly. He never forgot to thank his director FM Reyes for his excellent handling of his role, for which Direk FM Reyes acknowledged that it was all because LA was really good in the movie and he really delivered.
Had this movie been included in the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), many believed that LA could have a good chance for the Best Actor run. However, the young actor dismissed the thought because he said that he is not yet keen on the awards now, but on how he could bring the message across his audience in this movie which he acted out from the bottom of his heart.
So genuine and sincere, we believe that LA’s stars is no longer unreachable. He has been twinkling in the showbiz realm, as a singer, he has coveted some trophies from different award-giving bodies, and as an actor, it will not be far-fetched for him to be littered with awards and more acclaims.
