Someone once said the only things certain in this life is death and taxes. As if death alone is not stupefying here comes the taxes to sweep whatever is left of your sanity. Wise guy he was but he forgot another thing. CHANGE.
Nothing last forever dear reader. Grief, storms and trials all them you name it all of them shall come to pass. The human brain is wired to forget. This is one design, Our Lord blessed us to ride the crests of life’s waves. To forgive is divine and forget is human.
I always thought I can never forget but I was wrong. True, memories can roll back and catch us unawares but those memories don’t define us. They belong to us and should serve us. Not the other way around. You can choose to stow or let go of the pain.
But keep the lessons, right? All of the above is better said than done. One can try many so-called self-help mind therapies that work at times but not all the time.
David, the greatest King of Israel had a deep relationship with the LORD who made the heavens and the earth that he was called a man after God’s own heart.
One time He told GOD
Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
according to your steadfast love remember me,
for the sake of your goodness, O LORD!. Psalms 25:7 ESV
Now look at this, David said “remember not”, from all the times he spent with God he came to know that the Lord can NEVER FORGET. How can He ever forget our sins, failures and shortcomings when He knew it all before time was conceived? This is the bosom of True Comfort. A PERSON who understands us through and through, who is truly interested in our well-being and desires us to know Him deeply as our Loving Father.
All of us failed for sure of the Ten Commandment and had one time or another lied and stole and took the name of the LORD in vain. By His Standards we’re all guilty but He loved us so much that he paid the penalty He declared so He saw you and me while Christ hang on the cross and Saw Christ in us the day we repented.
When we come to comprehend that GOD alone cannot forget but He chooses to remember not, we can lean on His everlasting arms keep quiet and Let HIM do the worrying. He alone is the same yesterday, today and forever. One who will never change from eternity past to eternities to come.
So when anything is so significantly fearful that it claws into the very core of our being let us remember they are not going to stay forever. They too shall “come to pass “. Let us be glad we can forget and never be prisoners of the past. Everyday is a celebration. Praise GOD forever. Smile.
