The Philippine government has urged Myanmar to allow the Philippine team to assist in the search-and-rescue operations for the missing Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) after the strong earthquake of 7.7 in magnitude that hit the country.
The Philippines decided to pursue the retrieval efforts for the dead who are suspected to be Filipinos affected by the disaster.
Office of Civil Defense (OCD) spokesperson Atty. Chris Noel Bendijo stated they are still awaiting an official response from Myanmar regarding their request.
Bendijo hoped that Myanmar would allow the Philippine team to assist in the ongoing activities, as the search for the missing Filipinos is urgently and critically needed.
