Manama: Pinoy Aksyon News, a Filipino-owned and Manila-based online newspaper, was officially launched in the Kingdom of Bahrain during a press conference and formal opening held on 17 June 2023 at the Hilton Hotel, Juffair.
Pinoy Aksyon News was first launched in the Philippines in April 2022. Its CEO and Publisher Miller H. Achurra thought of launching this online newspaper with his colleagues and industry veterans Lani Vallido, as Sales and Marketing, Marianito Lumayno as Advertising Director and Ismael Amigo as the Adviser and Web Designer.
Pinoy Aksyon News’ mission is to serve the Filipino community by providing them with positive and the latest news about the events happening in Bahrain, as well as back home.
Guest of Honor was Her Excellency Ambassador Anne Jalando-on Louis, Philippine Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain. Mr. Yusuf Lori, Director of Information and Follow-up, at Capital Governorate, also graced the special event along with Philippine Embassy officials and representatives from the National Communication Center in Bahrain.
H.E. Nancy Khedouri, Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee and Human Rights Committee, of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain sent a congratulatory message which was read by Pinoy Aksyon News Bahrain Publisher Rowena Crisostomo Cabral during the launching.
“It gives me great honour to express my heartfelt Congratulations to the entire Team at PINOY AKSYON NEWS on the occasion of the launching of this First Filipino Online Newspaper. May this Newspaper prove to be one of the leading journalistic online newspapers for the Filipino community and the general public, with commendable work in bringing to its readers high-quality and reliable news, timely reports and opinions so important in this new era of media and technology. On this commemorative occasion, wishing much success and prosperity for many bright years ahead to expand your readership!” H.E. Khedouri stated in her message.
Guest of Honor H.E. Ambassador Louis delivered her speech wherein she congratulated and thanked the Management of Pinoy Aksyon News Bahrain for their efforts in launching this online newspaper in Bahrain.
In her speech, Ambassador Louis said that she was aware of the important role that the media plays in the life of Filipino communities abroad. She stressed that the Philippine Embassies around the world work hand-in-hand with the media to serve the Filipinos better by providing them with reliable and truthful information that is very useful in their daily activities.
She also noted that she knew “how difficult it is to sustain a newspaper” and mentioned that during her term in other countries, she had witnessed some of the newspapers, whether print or online fold up, due to the many challenges they faced in their publication.
“I hope that Pinoy Aksyon News will prosper and that you will be successful in the years ahead. I wish you all the best as you start, a very good start for all of you and I wish you all success in the months ahead. Congratulations to the management and the entire team of Pinoy Aksyon News,” Ambassador Louis said.
Pinoy Aksyon News CEO and Founder Miller A. Achurra delivered his welcome speech via video clip during the event.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the Pinoy Aksyon News Bahrain Team, on behalf of my team here in the Philippines, for making this event a huge success. We assure you that without your tireless efforts and tremendous support, everything would have remained only a dream,” Achurra said.
