Illegal cigarettes and substandard laptops worth more than ₱58 million were seized by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) in separate operations in Pangasinan and Quezon City.
According to law enforcement, 1,064 master cases of illegal cigarettes were seized during the simultaneous raids in Urdaneta City and the municipalities of Manaoag and Villasis in Pangasinan. The value of the confiscated cigarettes is now estimated at over ₱58 million.
Meanwhile, CIDG operatives recovered 25 laptops, with an estimated value of ₱500,000, in an operation in Gilmore, New Manila, Quezon City. The devices allegedly failed to meet the clearance requirements of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), thereby making them unfit for sale or distribution.
Several suspects were apprehended concerning the illegal trade and are facing appropriate criminal charges. Authorities continue to intensify their campaign against the smuggling and selling of substandard goods to protect consumers and uphold fair trade practices.
