The remains of two Filipino crew members killed in the Houthi attack on the bulk carrier MV True Confidence have been repatriated. Their relatives received the remains at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Cargo Area with the help of OWWA, the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Migrant Workers, and their manning agency.
The OWWA stated, “Nagtulong-tulong ang DFA, DMW, kanilang manning agency at OWWA upang maproseso ang pagpapauwi ng mga labi ng dalawa nating kababayan na biktima ng karahasang ito ng mga Houthi.”
Dubai Labour Attaché John Rio Bautista accompanied the remains back to the country, as per the Department of Migrant Workers.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has issued a directive to continue assisting the families of the slain seamen.
The bulk carrier MV True Confidence was damaged by a missile on March 6 in the Gulf of Aden, Red Sea, leading to the tragic loss of two of the fifteen Filipino seamen aboard.
