Galeries Tower’s latest recruit, Shola Alvarez, is determined to revamp the team’s fortunes and reveal the Highrisers’ true potential in the upcoming PVL All-Filipino Conference.
Joining Galeries Tower after F2 Logistics disbanded last December, Alvarez brings a wealth of experience and an unwavering belief in the team’s capabilities.
After a less-than-ideal debut in the Second All-Filipino Conference, the former Jose Rizal University star is enthusiastic about leading her new squad to greater heights.
In anticipation of the upcoming season, Alvarez envisions a formidable Galeries Tower, poised to surprise fans and competitors alike on the PVL taraflex.
The Highrisers’ preparation has been marked by a positive response to the adjustments made by head coach Lerma Giron.
“Kaya. Kayang-kaya na namin kasi sa mga tuneup games namin, nakikita ko na kayang lumaban ng team. Nakakapag-contribute lahat kada isa, bawat isa sa amin may naitu-tulong talaga sa team,” shared the former NCAA MVP.
Giron, acknowledging the necessity for change, has introduced tweaks to the team’s system, and Alvarez confirms the seamless adaptation during training and tune-up games.
Despite the initial adjustments, the team is discovering its rhythm, indicating the potential for a revitalized performance in the upcoming conference.
Reflecting on Galeries Tower’s subpar debut in the previous conference with a 1-11 record, Alvarez recognized the challenges, especially in adapting to Giron’s system.
However, the determined athlete expressed gratitude for the warm welcome she received from the Highrisers, making the adjustment process smoother.
“Yung pag-welcome sobrang saya ko na hindi rin ako nahirapan makisama sa kanila kasi may mga players din na kilala ko na eh. Yung pakikisama, ‘di naman siya naging mahirap,” Alvarez shared.
