Manama: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s full solidarity and unwavering support for the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and its complete endorsement of the legitimate measures it has taken in response to the repeated terrorist attacks carried out by Iranian-backed terrorist militias from Iraqi territory, targeting its oil and vital facilities, stressing that these measures come within the framework of its inherent right to self-defense, to respond to sources of aggression and deter aggressors, in accordance with Article (51) of the Charter of the United Nations and the provisions of international law, and Security Council Resolution No. (2817).
The Ministry expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s full support for all legitimate measures taken by the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to protect its security and sovereignty and defend its territory, including the right to respond in coordination with the US Central Command to specific targets in Iraqi territory related to the aggressive attacks. It praised the wisdom of the Saudi leadership and its constant commitment to prioritizing peaceful solutions, de-escalation, and reducing tensions, and its refusal to resort to the use of force except within the framework of legitimate self-defense, and after exhausting all means to maintain security and stability in the region. It also commended the efficiency of the Saudi air defenses and their high readiness to counter aggression.
The Ministry affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries stand united with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and support all measures taken to protect its sovereignty, security, and national assets, based on the deep-rooted fraternal and historical ties, shared destiny, the GCC Joint Defense Agreement, and the belief that the security and stability of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are an integral part of the security of all GCC countries, and that any attack on it is considered an attack on the security of the entire region, given the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s established position at the heart of the Arab and Islamic worlds and its pivotal role as a cornerstone of regional and international security and stability.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the Kingdom of Bahrain’s call to the international community, particularly the Security Council, to take firm and urgent measures to compel Iran and its proxies to immediately and completely cease their unjustified terrorist attacks on the countries of the region and to ensure the security of international waterways. It also called on the Iraqi government to assume its direct responsibility in taking immediate measures to prevent its territory from being used as a launching pad for any terrorist acts targeting neighboring countries, and to expedite the implementation of the decision to restrict weapons to the state and dismantle outlaw militias, in accordance with the principles of good neighborliness and the provisions of international law, and to contribute to consolidating regional and international peace and security.
