The Japanese Embassy in the Philippines praised a Filipino for rescuing a 6-year-old boy from drowning at Fukuoka’s Hakozaki Wharf.
According to the Japanese Asahi Shimbun news service, the Fukuoka Coast Guard received information that a 6-year-old boy fell two metres into the sea without a life jacket.
The unnamed Filipino was fishing nearby and dove into the sea to save the child. Meanwhile, those in the area pulled the boy back onto the wharf with ropes linked to a bucket and fishing nets.
The Filipino was enrolled in the Japanese government’s technical intern training program.
The Fukuoka Coast Guard, on the other hand, stated that the incident might have been worse without the Filipino’s assistance.
