The Philippines commended the United Nations Security Council’s (UNSC’s) resolution granting the three-phase cease-fire proposal in the Gaza Strip.
The Department of Foreign Affairs stated in a letter that UN Resolution S/RES/2735 emphasised the UN’s commitment to peace and stability and that the government is dedicated to taking the necessary measures to reach a peaceful resolution in Gaza.
UN S/RES/2735, adopted on June 10, called for the full implementation of a three-phase cease-fire agreement to end the conflict between Gaza and Hamas
The deal calls for the secure release of hostages and captives, the withdrawal of forces, the return of the deceased who remain in the Gaza Strip, proper distribution of humanitarian aid, and a multi-year reconstruction plan for Gaza.
The resolution was adopted with 14 votes in favour from the UN Security Council, with the Russian Federation abstaining. Aileen Lor
