The 49th Metro Manila Film Festival culminated on Wednesday, revealing its winners in a highly anticipated event. “Firefly” emerged as the Best Picture, claiming this prestigious title alongside two other awards. The film also secured the Best Child Performer trophy for its lead star, Euwenn Mikaell, and was recognized for its exceptional screenplay. However, it was “Gomburza” that stole the spotlight, clinching a total of 7 trophies, including the 2nd Best Picture award. Cedrick Juan was honored with the Best Actor accolade for his remarkable performance, while Pepe Diokno received the Best Director award for his outstanding work. Additionally, “Gomburza” was recognized for its excellence in cinematography, production design, and sound, and was bestowed with the Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Cultural Award. Meanwhile, “Mallari” and “When I Met You In Tokyo” both secured 4 wins each, resulting in a tie for second place. “Mallari” was awarded the 3rd Best Picture, while “When I Met You In Tokyo” received the 4th Best Picture accolade.
