According to Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Cacdac, a US Navy ship rescued 21 Filipino seafarers from the M/V Tutor and is now heading to Bahrain.
Cacdac further said that it is expected to arrive at the Port of Manama, Bahrain around 10:30 pm (PH time) and around 5:30 pm Bahrain time.
Cacdac added that a team from the DMW, Migrant Workers Office (MWO), and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) will be heading to Manama Port to welcome the 21 seafarers as part of the ‘One-Country Team Approach’ coordinated by the Philippine ambassador in Bahrain.
Cacdac assured that the rescued seamen would receive adequate assistance. He also emphasized that PBBM is implementing a whole-of-government approach that will also help those seamen who are being hostaged by the Houthi rebel attack in the Red Sea.
Cacdac also stated that the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is now working with their overseas counterparts to guarantee the release of 17 Filipino seamen kidnapped by Houthi rebels last year.
He is also hoping that the talk will have positive results to free Filipino seaman hostages.
