Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) camp, is planning to file a motion for reconsideration with the Supreme Court concerning its order to transfer the hearing of Quiboloy’s criminal case from the Davao RTC to the Quezon City RTC.
Atty. Israelito Torreon, one of Quiboloy’s legal counsels, stated that the decision astonished them and may have violated their client’s right to due process.
Toreon also stated that the Supreme Court decided on the Department of Justice’s false and unsupported claim that the Davao RTC would be biased if the case were held there.
Torreon further stated that the change of venue for the hearing is a significant burden and inconvenience for the six accused and the witnesses who will appear.
The High Court first stated sufficient reason to relocate the hearing in Quiboloy’s case to Metro Manila since there’s a public interest involved, particularly when the accused will be relocated to Davao.
