Manama: The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) recently welcomed its newest volunteers with an interactive workshop designed to help them identify how their values, abilities and personal motivations can contribute to humanitarian service.
Held at the Society’s headquarters in Manama, the “Our Mission: Answering the Call” workshop formed part of BRCS’s volunteer induction program. It encouraged participants to reflect on what draws them to volunteering, define the contribution they hope to make and explore roles suited to their interests and strengths.
The session was delivered by Ms. Iman Al Khajah, Capacity Building Specialist at BRCS, under the supervision of Mr. Adel Al Jar, Board Member and Assistant Secretary-General for Committees Affairs. Practical discussions and activities introduced the new volunteers to leadership, teamwork and the essential relief knowledge required to respond confidently and responsibly when humanitarian needs arise.
The workshop also familiarized participants with the values of humanitarian action and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, providing a solid foundation for their involvement in BRCS programs and initiatives.
BRCS said effective volunteering begins with a clear sense of purpose. Understanding their individual motivations enables volunteers to choose roles in which they can contribute most effectively, develop their capabilities through experience and maintain a long-term commitment to serving others.
The Society added that its induction programs combine learning, participation and practical preparation to help volunteers integrate into its teams and understand the responsibilities associated with humanitarian work. The workshop reflected BRCS’s belief that meaningful service begins with purpose and grows into an impact felt across the community.
