MANILA, Philippines — Newly crowned Mrs. Universe Philippines 2026 Fatima Figueroa Alvarez will represent the country at the Mrs. Universe 2026 pageant in Sri Lanka, where more than 100 married women from around the world are expected to compete.
Speaking during a media conference at the Belmont Hotel in Pasay City, Alvarez thanked the Mrs. Universe Philippines Organization and its president, Charo Calalo, for entrusting her with the national title.
“I promise to wear this crown with humility, grace, and integrity,” Alvarez said as she accepted the responsibility of representing the Philippines on the international stage.
At 58, the Pampanga-based businesswoman and mother said joining the pageant reinforced the importance of authenticity and self-confidence.
“You have to be true to yourself to make a real impact and feel confident,” she said.
Calalo expressed confidence in Alvarez’s chances at the international competition, saying she saw qualities in the new queen that reminded her of her own experience as a former international pageant contestant.
“I recognized her potential and encouraged her to be proud of her title and prepare well for the competition,” Calalo said, noting that this year’s Mrs. Universe pageant is expected to draw more than 100 contestants.
Alvarez also credited her determination to her commitment to every endeavor she undertakes and said her children remain her greatest source of inspiration.
She encouraged married women and mothers to pursue opportunities regardless of age, saying her victory proves that personal aspirations can still be achieved later in life.
“Being a mother and a businesswoman is challenging, but earning the title of Mrs. Universe Philippines is something I’m truly proud of,” Alvarez said.
