Manama: The vibrant Feast of the Sto. Niño filled the Sacred Heart Church on January 24th, drawing together the Filipino community in the Kingdom of Bahrain to celebrate their beloved Sto. Niño. His Excellency Bishop Aldo Berardi, Apostolic Vicar of Northern Arabia, presided over the Holy Mass, joined by Rev. Fr. Anthony Almazan, OFM, CAP., and other priests.

H.E. Ambassador Anne Jalando-on Louis, Philippine Ambassador to Bahrain, joined the community in honoring this significant religious tradition. The presence of Ambassador Jalando-on Louis further emphasized the importance of this celebration, showcasing the embassy’s support for the Filipino community and their cultural heritage.

The air buzzed with anticipation as Filipinos, young and old, adorned in colorful attire, filled the church. The celebration was preceded by a nine-day Novena held at the Mother Church, where prayers were offered and heartfelt hymns were sung, culminating in the grand feast day.
Rev. Fr. Francis Joseph, OFM, CAP., the Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Church, along with other priests, led the spiritual activities throughout the Novena and celebration.

Beyond the religious significance, the Feast of the Sto. Niño serves as a powerful reminder of the Filipino community’s deep-rooted faith and their unwavering resilience in a foreign land. It is a time for families and friends to come together, share stories, and strengthen their bonds.

The celebration extended beyond the church walls as the community erupted in a vibrant “Sinulog” dance, a traditional Filipino dance characterized by lively movements and rhythmic steps. The colorful costumes, energetic music, and infectious enthusiasm filled the air, creating a joyous spectacle that showcased the richness of Filipino culture.

The Feast of the Sto. Niño celebration was a resounding success, a testament to the enduring spirit of the Filipino community in Bahrain, their unwavering faith, and their ability to find joy and togetherness even far from their homeland.
