In an effort to encourage foreign investment in the Philippines, the Bureau of Customs (BoC) at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) participated in the official opening of Lufthansa Technik Philippines’ (LTP) Hangar 1A.
According to Port of NAIA District Collector Carmelita M. Talusan, the bureau “continues to support the growth of the aviation industry in the Philippines thus promoting the nation as an aeronautical hub in Asia.”
According to LTP, the hangar—the fourth for the business—can house four narrowbody aircraft or one widebody and two narrowbody aircraft. The larger Airbus A380 can also fit, as an alternative.
On August 19, 2022, LTP President Elmar Lutter and Vice President for Marketing and Sales Rainer Janke held a public opening ceremony for the new hangar.
Alfredo E. Pascual, secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry, Jaime J. Bautista, secretary of transportation, congressman Joey S. Salceda, general manager of the Manila International Airport Authority, Cesar Chiong, president and chief operating officer of Philippine Airlines Stanley K. Ng, president and chief operating officer of MacroAsia Eduardo T. Luy, vice president of PAL Holdings Lucio Tan III, and other aviation industry executives were also present.
According to Lutter, the new flagship hangar will boost regional aviation growth, create new employment possibilities, and promote tourism.
Additionally, the LTP president declared his desire to expand LTP’s operations in the Philippines.
On the other side, Talusan views LTP’s Philippine operation as a world-class venture that will boost foreign investment and create job possibilities for the nation.
