    Bolts won their first championship after defeating the Beermen 80-78

    The Meralco Bolts clinched the championship of the 2024 PBA Philippine Cup finals after defeating the San Miguel Beermen 80-78 in game 6 held at the Araneta Coliseum.

    The said win is the first championship of the Bolts since entering the league in 2010.

    The Bolts led by 17 points in the second quarter when the Beermen tied the game at 49-all and the Bolts were unable to go any farther.

    With only a few seconds left, the Beermen had a chance to force a Game 7, but June Mar Fajardo missed the ball.

    Chris Newsome saved the Bolts by making a jumper with 1.3 seconds remaining to give them an 80-78 lead.
