The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced today that 213 Filipinos in Lebanon have already obtained their necessary travel documents and are now ready to go back home. Such has been in line with the increasing hostilities between the Israeli forces and the Hezbollah group stationed in Lebanon.
Migrant Workers Undersecretary Hans Cacdac disclosed on Friday that about 20 Filipinos are expected to arrive in the country over the weekend as part of a voluntary repatriation effort.
Cacdac added no Filipino was injured during the recent attacks by Israel in Lebanon on Thursday night.
Apart from those already scheduled for repatriation, 178 Filipinos are flocking into temporary shelters across Lebanon, waiting for further instructions or opportunities for repatriation.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. keeps Lebanon at Alert Level 3, which allows Filipinos an opportunity to do voluntary repatriation while the post remains under close watch and may escalate to Alert Level 4 which would call for immediate evacuation of all Filipinos in the country.
DMW remains watchful as it closely monitors the area on behalf of Filipino nationals in light of the ongoing conflict in the area.
