An executive order completely banning Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators is expected to be issued within two weeks, an official of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission said.
Cruz said that while the definition of key terminologies is already in the draft EO, the details of the implementing mechanisms are still being threshed out.
He also explained that a TWG will be created to resolve certain issues such as whether it will cover special class BPO operations and online gaming sites. This became clear after Senator Sherwin Gatchalian raised the issue in the Senate hearing.
During his third State of the Nation Address, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. announced that POGOs would be banned over their involvement in some alleged nefarious activities in the country, which include scams, money laundering, prostitution, human trafficking, kidnapping, torture, and even murder.
