Manama: Oasis Mall in Juffair recently hosted a joyous and exciting celebration of Filipino culture as the “Hala Bira Fiesta” returned for its highly anticipated second season. From January 30th to February 1st, 2025, the mall was transformed into a dynamic hub of Filipino heritage, attracting a diverse crowd of Filipinos, Bahrainis, and expatriates eager to experience the richness and warmth of Filipino traditions.

The event was organized by Brand ME led by its CEO, Cristina Fulgencio, with the support of the Philippine Embassy, Capital Governorate, and Oasis Mall. The event was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including H.E. Anne Jalando-on Louis, Philippine Ambassador to Bahrain, who served as the Guest of Honor and her spouse Dr. D. Gerard Joseph Louis. Also in attendance were Mr. Yusuf Lori, Director of Information and Follow-Up, Capital Governorate, along with officials from Philippine Embassy and Oasis Mall, members of the diplomatic corps, and other invited guests.

The Hala Bira Fiesta Season 2 offered a captivating glimpse into the heart of Filipino culture, showcasing a diverse range of artistic expressions and time-honored customs. The bustling food festival and bazaar tantalized taste buds with an irresistible array of authentic Filipino delicacies, from savory chicken adobo and pancit to sweet treats like halo-halo and leche flan.

The air was filled with the infectious rhythms of live music, performed by talented Filipino musicians who had the crowd clapping, dancing, and singing along. Energetic street dance performances particularly the Panagbenga, a hallmark of Filipino festivals, mesmerized onlookers with their colorful costumes, intricate choreography, and infectious energy.

The art exhibit provided a platform for Filipino artists to showcase their creativity and talent, displaying a diverse collection of paintings, sculptures, and other artistic creations. The sports festival was abuzz with activity, featuring a spirited dart competition and an exciting basketball game, where fans cheered on their favorite teams with enthusiasm.

In addition to the cultural festivities, the Hala Bira Fiesta Season 2 also served as an important platform for community engagement. The Philippine Embassy’s Consular Outreach Mission, held on Friday, January 31st, provided invaluable services to Filipinos residing in Bahrain. From consular assistance and passport renewals to voter registration and assistance from agencies like OWWA, Pag-IBIG, and PhilHealth, the mission brought essential services directly to the community, making it easier for Filipinos to access vital resources and support.

The Hala Bira Fiesta Season 2 was more than just a series of events; it was a tapestry woven with threads of culture, community, and shared experiences. It was a celebration of Filipino identity, a testament to the strong bond that unites Filipinos living abroad, and an opportunity to share the richness of Filipino heritage with the wider community. The fiesta served as a bridge between cultures, fostering understanding, appreciation, and mutual respect.
