The opening of 2,000 job vacancies for Filipino workers came after the Friendship Week celebration between Hungary and the Philippines.
Reports say that the vacancies are in sectors such as agriculture, construction, and manufacturing.
According to Hungarian Ambassador Titanilla Toth, only three countries are licensed to send workers to Hungary—the Philippines being the only Asian country granted this privilege; she attributed it to the shared Christian faith between Filipinos and Hungarians.
Further, she pointed to cultural similarities between the two countries as a further basis for strengthening bilateral ties.
