The Light Rail Transit Line 1 Cavite Extension Project Phase 1 partially opens today, November 16, as part of the significant steps for mass transportation development in the country.
At more than 80,000 riders per day, this railway project is said to be the first under the newly re-elected government of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. through the Public-Private Partnership to be completed.
New Stations to Link Pasay, Parañaque
The five-station extension will connect Baclaran Station in Pasay City to Dr. Santos Station, formerly known as Sucat Station, in Parañaque City. These stations are:
- Redemptorist–Aseana Station
- Station Manila International Airport Road
- PITX Station
- Ninoy Aquino Avenue Station
- Dr. Santos Station
The DOTr said the new LRT-1 extension would take away some 6,000 vehicles from the streets of Metro Manila daily, thus decongesting the roadways of the metropolis.
The inaugural ride was attended by Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, Special Assistant to the President Antonio Lagdameo, and businessman Manny Pangilinan, among other officials who are with the President. Under complete realization, the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project shall eventually include eight new stations while on its track, enhancing connectivity and increasing economic activities in that particular region. \
This development underscores the commitment of the administration to improve infrastructure and address metropolitan traffic issues in Metro Manila and its neighboring regions.
