The Manila Police District (MPD) has confirmed that a 50-year-old female passenger did not jump off the Light Rail Transit (LRT) line 1. Instead, she passed out and slid onto the train tracks.
MPD investigations revealed that the passenger had a history of hypertension and stroke.
The MPD clarification came after the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) initially reported that the passenger had jumped as the train approached the southbound lane of Doroteo Jose Station.

According to the MPD, the passenger lost consciousness while waiting for a train to Baclaran station, causing her to fall onto the tracks. She was partially trapped under the train and sustained minor injuries, for which she was promptly taken to the nearest hospital.
Fortunately, a vigilant guard quickly alerted the train’s engineer, who used the brakes quickly.
Following the incident, LRT1 operations were temporarily suspended but promptly resumed.
