The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is intensifying its preparations for the Trillion Peso March on November 30 to avoid a repeat of the riotous incident that spoiled the demonstration on September 21 in Manila.
According to NCRPO Public Information Office chief Police Major Hazel Asilo said in an DzBB interview, “Kami ay nakahanda na at patuloy na naghahanda para sa November 30 na Trillion Peso March.”
Asilo also said they have intensified monitoring, especially on social media, “dahil doon natin nakita na nahihikayat yung kabataan.”
The heightened security followed a rally held on September 21, 216 individuals, including 89 minors.
The November 30 Trillion Peso March is being organized by various civic organizations and advocacy sectors, all of which demand accountability, the return of stolen public funds, and greater transparency from the government.
Organizers estimate that thousands will participate in the protest in different urban centers nationwide. -Aileen Lor
