Renowned philanthropist and celebrity businesswoman Cecile Bravo is making waves in the upcoming advocacy film, “Ang Aking Mga Anak.” While not her absolute first foray into acting, Bravo considers this role her most significant and challenging yet, due to the demanding nature of her full-length performance, admitting to long dialogues and considerable nervousness during filming.
This marks Bravo’s second venture onto the big screen, having previously made a cameo appearance in the film “Collab,” which starred Alexa Ilacad, KD Estrada, Jameson Blake, and Kira Baringer.
During the advance screening of “Ang Aking Mga Anak,” Bravo candidly expressed her pre-screening jitters. “Kanina, medyo kabado ako, naiiyak ako, kasi hindi ko rin alam kung paano akong tatanggapin ng mga manonood (bilang isang baguhang artista). Na baka sabihin sa akin, bakit naman ipinasok mo pa ‘yan?”

However, much to her relief and the surprise of many, Bravo delivered a remarkably compelling performance. She stepped into the shoes of Aling Asaph, a character starkly different from her real-life persona. Aling Asaph is portrayed as a feisty and strong-willed landlady, known for her demanding approach to rent collection. Yet, beneath this tough exterior lies a remarkably pure and loving heart, particularly when it comes to children. The film beautifully highlights this duality, showing her generosity in adopting and supporting the education of several children, including her adoptive sons Klinton Start and Prince Villanueva. Her portrayal was a revelation to many premiere attendees, who noted her seemingly seasoned performance, as if she had undergone extensive acting workshops.
Reflecting on her dedication, Bravo affirmed, “I really tried my best tulad ng ginagawa ko sa ibang bagay. In everything I do, ‘yun naman ang ginagawa ko. That’s always my approach.” While she thoroughly enjoyed the filmmaking experience, Bravo remains unwilling to take risks about a full-time career in acting. “There are some things I just have to accept aren’t meant for me,” she explained, suggesting her current focus remains elsewhere.

“Ang Aking Mga Anak” delves into the poignant struggles of ordinary children, often left in the care of relatives in challenging circumstances. The narrative centers on characters like Jace Fierre, who plays Gabriel, a beloved child in his community unknowingly afflicted with a heart condition. He is joined by his siblings, including Juharra Zhianne Asayo as Julia, whose natural talent in acting is particularly notable.
The film offers valuable lessons, highlighting the importance of parental attention and the remarkable camaraderie among children. It touchingly portrays their willingness to help peers in need, even when facing their own adversities.
Directed by Jun Miguel and produced by DreamGo Productions (JS Jimenez) in collaboration with Viva Films, “Ang Aking Mga Anak” features a talented ensemble. The lead child actors include Jace Fierre as Gabriel, Juharra Zhianne Asayo as Julia, Alejandra Cortez as Pauline, Madisen Go as Heaven, and Candice Ayesha as Sarah. They are joined by a strong supporting cast: Hiro Magalona, Klinton Start, Natasha Ledesma, Prince Villanueva, Patani Dano, Ralph dela Paz, Art Halili, Andrea Go, and Sarah Javier.
The film is set to open nationwide on September 3.
