KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. arrived in Kuala Lumpur at around 2:50 p.m. on Saturday to participate in the 47th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Summits, where regional leaders are expected to tackle key political, economic, and security issues affecting Southeast Asia.

The President was welcomed by Philippine Embassy officials and representatives from the Malaysian government upon his arrival at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. This marks President Marcos’ latest engagement in ASEAN’s high-level meetings since assuming office, reflecting the country’s continuing commitment to regional cooperation and diplomacy.
During the summit, the ASEAN leaders are set to discuss various pressing concerns, including regional peace and stability, digital transformation, sustainable development, and climate resilience. President Marcos is also expected to emphasize the Philippines’ stance on maritime cooperation, economic recovery, and inclusive growth across the region.

Aside from the main sessions, the President is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with several heads of state and government to strengthen partnerships in trade, investment, and security. He will also meet with members of the Filipino community in Malaysia as part of his official visit.
The 47th ASEAN Summit serves as a platform for Southeast Asian leaders to reaffirm the region’s unity and collective vision amid global challenges. The Philippines’ participation underscores its continuing role in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity within the ASEAN community.
