Super Typhoon Nando has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) early Tuesday, September 23, but its wide circulation continues to enhance the Southwest Monsoon. This will keep rains affecting parts of Luzon and Visayas in the next few days.
Despite moving out, Nando’s strong winds and enhanced habagat may still bring scattered rain showers, thunderstorms, and possible flooding in low-lying areas, particularly in Northern and Central Luzon. Coastal waters also remain risky for small vessels.
At the same time, Tropical Depression Opong has entered PAR. It was last spotted east of the country and is expected to move closer in the coming days, possibly intensifying as it tracks westward.
Opong is forecast to bring rains and gusty winds over Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region, and parts of Luzon, raising concerns of localized flooding and landslides. Residents in these areas are advised to remain alert and monitor advisories.
PAGASA warns the public to stay updated as both weather systems continue to affect the country’s weather conditions. Disaster authorities are on heightened watch to ensure preparedness in vulnerable communities.–Cali Demi
