As of 4:00 AM today, Tropical Storm Danas (formerly “Bising”) remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), positioned approximately 480 kilometers west of Basco, Batanes. It carries maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 90 km/h, moving slowly westward. Despite being outside PAR, its trough continues to influence weather conditions over Extreme Northern Luzon.
The Batanes and Babuyan Islands are currently experiencing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough of TS Danas. Moderate to heavy rains in these areas may result in flash floods or landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous regions.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon is bringing widespread cloudy skies and scattered rain showers to Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and the rest of Cagayan Valley. Residents are advised to stay alert for possible flooding and landslides, especially during periods of intense rainfall.
The rest of the country can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, also brought about by the southwest monsoon. While generally fair, localized thunderstorms may still lead to flash floods or landslides in susceptible areas.
Authorities advise the public to remain vigilant and monitor updates from PAGASA and local disaster risk reduction offices. Precautionary measures should be taken, particularly in flood-prone and mountainous areas, as weather conditions remain unstable due to combined monsoon and storm effects.
