BIRI, Northern Samar – A landslide triggered by tropical cyclone “Enteng” struck Purok 1, Barangay Santo Niño in Biri on Sunday, September 1, leaving two people missing and four others injured.
The missing individuals have been identified as 76-year-old farmer Federico Galvan Sabangan Sr. and his 29-year-old son, Federico Acuña Sabangan Jr. Among the injured are a 64-year-old woman and an eight-year-old girl, both of whom were taken to Biri District Hospital for treatment.
The landslide, which occurred shortly after a heavy downpour, affected 14 houses in Ward 1.
The barangay captain of Santo Niño reported the incident to the Biri Municipal Police Station and search and rescue operations are being halted due to the continuous rainfall.
