As of 2:00 AM today, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is monitoring two Low Pressure Areas (LPAs), with one located inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and the other outside. The LPA within PAR, designated as LPA 07c, currently shows a low chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, the second LPA, which is the remnant of the former Tropical Depression Danas, is located outside PAR and is also unlikely to develop further in the same period.
Despite the low development potential of these weather systems, the Southwest Monsoon, or “habagat,” continues to bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over large parts of Luzon. Affected areas include Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Central Luzon, and parts of MIMAROPA. Residents in these regions are advised to remain cautious, especially in flood-prone and low-lying areas, as monsoon rains are expected to persist throughout the day.
Weather forecasts indicate cloudy skies with possible moderate to heavy rainfall, particularly in the afternoon and evening. The combination of the active monsoon and the nearby LPA is expected to sustain unstable atmospheric conditions. PAGASA warns that flash floods and landslides remain possible, especially in areas with a history of such incidents. Local government units have been placed on alert, and disaster response teams are ready for deployment if necessary.
In addition, a general flood advisory has been issued for parts of CALABARZON and nearby provinces. River systems in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Rizal may experience rising water levels due to continuous rain. Communities near rivers and mountainous areas are strongly urged to take preventive measures and evacuate early if needed.
PAGASA continues to closely monitor the LPAs and advises the public to stay updated through official bulletins and advisories. While no tropical cyclones are expected to develop immediately, the prevailing monsoon conditions will still have a significant impact on daily activities. All are encouraged to remain vigilant and follow the guidance of local authorities to ensure safety.
