44 Chinese ships were seen anchored in Pag-asa Island last week. PBBM said he shall not surrender even an inch of our territory. We should not lose hope and he hopes this to be resolved soon. As the saying in Tagalog goes: ”Hindi tayo dapat mawalan ng Pag-asa!” Literally and figuratively.
Amazingly, youthful students almost all want to work with the government as uniformed personnel. They said it will add to their patriotism and love to serve their fellowmen. But in my eyes, they have different reasons. It might be the fact that the salaries of uniformed personnel have already been doubled since the Duterte admin!
My Compadre is fond of outings during the summer season but he said he might not go outing this time because the summer now is too hot. I asked the truth of what he said. He retorted that he has no money! Hik hik hik! Super hot talaga!
The Philippines was hailed as the “Best Dive Destination” during the largest diving expo in Asia besting Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, and Maldives. The Diving Resort and Travel (DRT) Show in Malaysia on February 24. The accolade is expected for the industry to thrive alongside the support of stakeholders and encourage more people to become passionate divers to champion the preservation of marine ecology. The Department of Tourism said the Philippines is back in the running for Asia’s Leading Beach Destination at the 2023 WTA after winning in the same category in the 2022 World Travel Awards in September in Vietnam. Now it is expected that local and foreign tourist divers to show their grit in the country’s resorts these coming days.
It’s a daily chant against each other between my women neighbors. One woman told her friend: “I have so many valuable necklaces and bracelets because my BF is a snatcher!” But the other one who seemed eager not to be flushed retorted: “My BF is better because I have now a luxurious car. My BF is a carnapper! Haaaay!
My wife’s birthday is around the corner. I told her I am going to give her a lechon as a gift. She told me that she’d prefer for me to give her Kornik (roasted corn) instead. Because that’s nearest to the truth! Hik hik hik!
Saying that it has the same destructive hazing culture among school-based fraternities in the country, the ACT (Alliance Of Concerned Teachers) urged government officials to drop plans to reinstate the mandatory ROTC program. ACT condemned the death of Adamson John Matthew Sahilig after allegedly undergoing hazing during initiation rites of the Tau Gamma fraternity. It urged fraternities to seriously exert efforts to end violent tradition and culture of hazing in their midst. According to Senator Bato de la Rosa, the call to stop hazing is a very desperate move by anti-ROTC activist groups who are against the return of implementing ROTC. The death of Sahilig is related to fraternity hazing and not to ROTC training, where students are taught and trained in the love and defense of the country. Hazing is different from training. That’s right because in the 70’s as an ROTC student in UP, Diliman, Quezon City, it was training and not hazing that we experienced. The form of hazing then as punishment was 50 times push-ups or 100 times marching encircling an ROTC platoon. You can ask Batch 68 of UP.
With the surging prices of commodities, my officemate said he was really worried about becoming hungry and should tighten our belt. But our Boss told us that we would not be hungry anymore. we are so happy thinking we will be given a free meal during break time. But he said he will give us a free belt! Haizsst!!!
My Comadre was left for good by her Compadre. She said she would not miss him, but his monthly salary! He he he!
Anne Curtis was able to finish the prestigious Tokyo Marathon held last week and she received a medal as a finisher. She said every single kilometer was worth it knowing she was running for the help and support of Pinoy children to heal and recover through the funds of WEW. Being a mother too, she couldn’t help but get emotional when she crossed the finishing line. She said running with a purpose is bigger than just receiving a medal which kept her fueled. This also provided additional funds to her fund-raising project to help more children receive the services they needed. She sent congratulations to all runners saying “Arigato Gozaimasu’” more pictures to come! Klap klap klap!
My Compadre told me that she was just separated from his Comadre yesterday. I said I really wonder why it happened when I just saw his wife kissing and caressing him last night. But my Compadre retorted,” It was just my salary day!” L. Ogima
