Manama: The grounds of the Philippine Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain were transformed into a vibrant tapestry of Filipino heritage on Friday, 12 December 2025, as the community gathered for the much-anticipated “Paskuhan sa Pasuguan.” Far more than a simple gathering, the event served as a “home away from home,” rekindling the unmistakable spark of a Filipino Christmas through the shared joys of pagkain, musika, at pakikipag-kapwa.
The festivities were spearheaded by Ambassador-Designate Gines Jaime Ricardo D. Gallaga who was joined by his spouse, Madame Moira Gallaga.The successful execution of the festivities was made possible by the collective efforts of the Philippine Embassy’s officers and staff, who were on the ground to personally welcome our kababayans and ensure that every guest felt the festive warmth of a traditional Pinoy Christmas.
The heart of the festivities pulsed with the spirit of friendly competition during the Lumpia Cooking Contest. Twelve talented kababayans showcased their secret recipes, turning the humble spring roll into a centerpiece of culinary art. After much deliberation, the honors went to Letty Naguit (1st Place), Marjorie Horca (2nd Place), and Marissa Vera (3rd Place).
As guests savored local flavors, the air was thick with nostalgia and holiday cheer. The embassy grounds echoed with the harmonious voices of KORO Filipino, the Philippine School Bahrain Chorale, the Filipino Community Band, and the Magalak Choir, whose renditions of beloved Christmas carols brought tears of joy and smiles of remembrance to many in attendance.
The event also served as a testament to the thriving entrepreneurial spirit of the Filipino community in Bahrain. A bustling “tiangge” offered a diverse array of products and services, made possible by the participation of Sweet Cravings, Cagayan, Sugbahan, G’s Kitchen, El Padrinos/Ketchup and Mayo, Amarah Home-based Coffee, Karol’s Flower and Catering, Homemade Bonsai Trees, Le Parfum, Shais Restaurant, IV Bakes, Cozzy Garments PH, TJY’s Fashion Boutique, Mac’s Restaurant, Grabelicious Donuts, Lush Glow Naturals by Madison Trading, BijouxEnPerles, Twenty Four Essence, Jollibee, STC, LBC, Batelco, and BrandME for the PBA Tickets.
From the thrill of the raffle draws to the simple delight of shared meals under the festive lights, the Paskuhan sa Pasuguan successfully captured the resilient and evergreen spirit of the Filipino people. It was a day where distance was forgotten, and the warmth of the Philippines was felt deeply in the heart of Manama.
