Dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, currently facing charges, is reportedly trying to enter the “Golden Triangle” to elude pursuing law enforcers, an investigating official disclosed on Saturday.
This comes days after some of her alleged co-accused were arrested in Indonesia.
The term “Golden Triangle” refers to the region that involves massive criminal activities, mostly triad and syndicate-controlled in Cambodia,Laos and Myanmar.
PAOCC spokesperson Winston Casio expressed confidence that Guo is trying to reach this area, saying she could be a member of a large crime syndicate, probably the Fujian Gang – an offshoot of the Golden Triangle crime ring.
“Those countries are very porous in terms of boundaries” Casio said, adding the exact location within the Golden Triangle where Guo might remain unclear.
According to the PAOCC official, officers were unable to detain Guo immediately since the Philippine agencies had not yet issued an arrest warrant against her.
