According to the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo may be considered as a state witness only if she can point to someone in a higher position than herself.
Alice Guo’s lawyer, Atty. Stephen David, stated that the mayor has not implied anything about being a state witness because she is not involved in any Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) operations.
Guo was allegedly implicated in a raided POGO hub, with documents revealing her personal involvement in document processing for the company’s operations. She is also suspected of being involved in a crime syndicate run by Chinese nationals.
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian has urged Guo to reveal the “main players” involved in the country’s unlawful POGOs. Charges have been filed against Guo and 13 others for violating Sections 4 and 6 of Republic Act (RA) 9208, also known as the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, as amended by RA 10364 and RA 11862.
Moreover, the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) has filed a petition to revoke Bamban Mayor Alice Guo’s birth certificate.
Guo was arrested in June after the Department of Interior and Local Government accused her of bribery and filed charges with the Office of the Ombudsman.
