Senator Christopher “Bong” Go urges supporters of FRRD to offer a prayer for him following the ICC arrest warrant. He said that it has been found that he has been arrested by the Philippine National Police (PNP) on account of the warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
“Sa mga kababayan po natin, maghinahon po kayo, keep calm. Ipagdasal niyo po si dating Pangulong [Rodrigo] Duterte,” Go said in an interview with reporters at Villamor Air Base, where Duterte was brought in after the arrest.
Go call on the state to be mindful of the ex-leader’s safety. But by then he had been stopped from entering Villamor, where he came with food and with the long-serving doctor of Duterte, Dr. Agnes del Rosario.
In a Facebook live video, Go said Duterte had complained of back pain the previous night and that he was scheduled for an undisclosed medical procedure. He added that Duterte was accompanied by his partner, Honeylet Avanceña, their daughter Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, and a nurse.
Go assured that Duterte, being a lawyer, would comply with procedures warranted by law. Meanwhile, Malacañang confirmed that Interpol Manila received the official copy of the ICC’s arrest warrant against Duterte early Tuesday morning, March 11.
Go also said that he was not aware of the contents of the document given to Duterte.
