Manama: The “Filipiniana Rondalla Concert” took place on June 14, 2024, at the prestigious Cultural Hall in Al Fateh, Manama to commemorate the 126th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence. This remarkable event was organized by the Philippine Embassy in Bahrain and delivered an extraordinary display of Filipino musical artistry and talent.
Pinoy Aksyon News Bahrain interviewed Filipino concert attendees regarding their experiences:
Karen Letran, an entrepreneur from Artful, expressed her gratitude by saying, “First of all, thanks to the Philippine Embassy Bahrain for bringing the Filipiniana Rondalla to Bahrain. It’s really nice to showcase the music and talent of Filipinos.”
Romeo C. Tagulao, Deputy Reserve Program Officer at Navy Base Bahrain, also shared his enthusiasm: “Happy 126th Independence Day. I really appreciate the Philippine Embassy for bringing the Filipiniana Rondalla from the Philippines. We really enjoyed the concert and had so much fun.”
Marjorie Delco Bennet, an entrepreneur from Pinoy Turo Restaurant, echoed the sentiment: “It’s an amazing event, and thanks to our Ambassador for bringing the Filipiniana Rondalla to Bahrain. They are so amazing and talented, and I want to see them again. Congratulations Philippines and Happy Independence Day.”
Rowena Vego, an entrepreneur from Lady Gold Company stated, “It was so amazing. I truly enjoyed watching the Rondalla. It was nice seeing our fellow Filipinos in Bahrain during the concert. It was very successful because of our Ambassador Anne Jalando-on Louis.”
Dr. Ilene Agana, an entrepreneur from Eagle Minds Consultancies, shared her excitement:
“The performance truly evoked a sense of excitement and nostalgia. The music, particularly ‘Manila,’ clearly resonated with the Filipino community. I was dancing and singing while they were performing ‘Manila’. We are grateful to Ambassador Anne for bringing this wonderful cultural experience to Bahrain, reconnecting us with our heritage.”
Ric Advincula, President of the Filipino Club Bahrain, praised the event: “It was a beautiful performance today, bringing so much culture from the Philippines. The music was very nice and we appreciated that trip down the memory lane. The audience really participated, singing along with the Filipiniana Rondalla. It’s great to have this type of activity not only for the community but also for our foreign friends here in Bahrain. Thank you, Philippine Embassy, through the leadership of HE Anne Jalando-on Louis, Filipiniana Rondalla, and all the Filipino Community Leaders in Bahrain. It was truly a wonderful activity today.”
Mrs. Celia Cabadonga, MWO Officer-in-Charge, shared her hopes for the future: The event was truly exceptional and a testament to the rich Filipino culture. I hope it becomes an annual tradition, fostering cultural appreciation and Filipino pride within our community.
The concert was a resounding success, reflecting the pride and joy of the Filipino community in Bahrain as they celebrated their cultural heritage and independence.
