The Philippine government has introduced a Digital Senior Citizens ID through the eGovPH app, providing a faster, more dignified, and secure way for senior citizens to access government services and benefits. This digital ID will now be automatically issued to Filipinos once they reach 60 years old, thanks to the joint efforts of the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
With this new system in place, senior citizens no longer need to line up or visit the Office of Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA) to claim their ID. The automatic issuance of the digital ID simplifies the process, reduces the risk of fraud and duplication in government records, and ensures more efficient access to entitlements such as discounts on medicines, transportation, utilities, and other essential services covered by law.
To receive their digital ID, users or their family members can download the eGovPH app on Android or iOS devices. Once the individual turns 60, the system will automatically recognize their eligibility and issue the ID through the app. Applicants are still encouraged to prepare valid IDs and personal information to ensure smooth registration and verification.

Recognizing the digital gap in far-flung areas, the DICT is also addressing internet connectivity challenges, particularly in remote and underserved communities. Efforts are ongoing to ensure that all senior citizens, regardless of location, can benefit from the new system. The initiative is part of a larger digital inclusion program that aims to bring technology closer to the people.
To support this transition, the government will also conduct a nationwide information campaign and digital literacy training to help seniors and their families understand and navigate the eGovPH app. The rollout of the Digital Senior Citizens ID reflects the government’s commitment to inclusivity, modernization, and improved service delivery for one of the country’s most valued sectors.
