The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has declared a suspension of classes in all levels—public and private—as well as government work in various parts of the country for Tuesday, August 26, 2025, due to the expected impact of continuous rains and possible flooding. The announcementu follows weather advisories from PAGASA regarding an intensified southwest monsoon and a low-pressure area affecting Luzon and Visayas.
The DILG confirmed the suspension for the following major areas:
Metro Manila
Aurora
Quezon
Rizal
Laguna
Camarines Norte
Camarines Sur
Albay
Sorsogon
Catanduanes
Masbate
Northern Samar
Eastern Samar
Leyte
Southern Leyte
Following an updated advisory from PAGASA, the following provinces were also added to the suspension list due to heightened risk of flooding and landslides:
Bulacan
Nueva Ecija
Pampanga
Batangas
Cavite
While public and private school classes are suspended in all these areas, private offices are encouraged to implement flexible work arrangements or allow remote work to ensure safety. Local government units (LGUs) may impose additional localized suspensions depending on real-time weather conditions.
Disaster preparedness and response agencies, particularly the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), remain on high alert to coordinate emergency measures. Residents in flood-prone and landslide-risk zones are advised to prepare for possible evacuations and continue monitoring official updates from local authorities.
