The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) announced on Wednesday that Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual has resigned from his position as head of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). Pascual will officially step down on August 2, 2024.
In a statement, the PCO revealed that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. (PBBM) met with Secretary Pascual at Malacañan Palace and accepted his resignation. The statement also mentioned that Pascual plans to return to the private sector.
To ensure a smooth transition and continuity of the DTI’s initiatives, the PCO stated that the search for Pascual’s replacement will commence immediately.
In a separate statement, Pascual confirmed his resignation and expressed gratitude to the President for the opportunity to contribute to the “building of the Bagong Pilipinas.”
