Manama: The Filipino-American (Fil-Am) Association in Bahrain, in collaboration with the Migrant Worker’s Office (MWO), recently organized a heartwarming gift-giving and dental check-up mission at the Philippine Embassy in Manama. The event aimed to provide assistance and support to 16 distressed Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), including four children, who are currently facing challenging circumstances.
Led by Fil-Am President, Orlando “Fonti” Fontanilla, the event brought together members of the Fil-Am community, including Grace Estacio, the Outreach Chairwoman of Fil-Am Bahrain, and Lito Sarmiento, Vice President-Internal, along with other officials. The participation of Triskellion and Fil-Com members further enhanced the impact of this compassionate initiative.
The gift-giving and dental check-up mission offered a ray of hope as the dedicated medical staff provided essential services to the beneficiaries. Dr. Kristine Villanueva, a dentist from Kim’s Hospital and nurses Griselda Rimas and Anjana Perooli from Royal Bahrain Hospital, were among the medical professionals who generously contributed their expertise and care.
Through their collective efforts, the Filipino-American Association, in partnership with the Migrant Workers’ Office, demonstrated their unwavering commitment to the welfare of their fellow countrymen. By addressing the immediate needs of distressed OFWs and ensuring their access to dental care, they have exemplified the spirit of compassion and unity that defines the Filipino community in Bahrain.
Ms. Celia Cabadonga, MWO-OIC expressed her gratitude to the groups involved in the initiative, highlighting the significant impact it had on the lives of the distressed OFWs. She emphasized the importance of such collaborative efforts in providing essential support and services to the Filipino community in Bahrain.
