The Philippine Embassy in Qatar has confirmed that no Filipino has been affected by the Israeli airstrike on Doha City on Tuesday.
According to reports, the attack was aimed at some Hamas leaders believed to be temporarily living in the country. Sources added that the target also evaded attacks.
The embassy has reassured all overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) that they are all in a safe position, urging the Filipino community to be vigilant during these heightened tensions in the region.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in Manila indicated that it is closely monitoring the situation to safeguard the lives of over 260,000 Filipinos living and working in Qatar.
Bombo International News correspondent Joseph Rivera relayed that the authorities in Qatar responded swiftly following the blast. Access to the area was cordoned off very quickly by security forces while the remains of one soldier, killed during the incident, were speedily handled.
In relation to this, the embassy also advised Filipinos living in Qatar to avoid going out unless emergencies arise, stay informed from official advisories, and coordinate with the Philippine Embassy for emergencies.
