Since the news of the band’s reunion concert was released, the former Eraserheads guitarist has been facing criticism surrounding the charges of domestic abuse.
On September 26, Adoro posted a message on his Instagram page to his daughter, singer Syd Hartha, acknowledging that they had not spoken for a long time.
“Recently, I’ve tried to reach out to her through her manager, but I’m not sure if my messages are getting through,” he said. “So, I’m making this post.”
“Syd, sa’n ka man (wherever you are), I hope you’re doing well. As you already know, I’m far from perfect kaya (so it is) normal if you want nothing to do with me,” he stated. “Sana lang magkaroon ng (I just hope to have a) second chance for redemption.”
Actress Barbara Ruaro, who was Syd’s ex-girlfriend, accused Marcus of physically and emotionally abusing her in 2019 after Ruaro shared a photo of her bruised and cut face on Instagram.
In the same month and year, Syd also shared on Facebook how her father, Marcus, who she had recently reconciled with, had verbally and physically abused her.
Adoro also expressed regret to the band’s devoted followers in the post and pleaded for their continued support of the planned reunion performance.
“I’m sorry for the ruckus that I may have caused my family, the public, the sponsors and my bandmates. Pasensya na (I am sorry),” he added.
“I also want to thank the people who are supporting E-Heads’ art. Please continue to support the E-Heads reunion. Alay po sa ating lahat ito (This is for us all).”
Immediately following the announcement, band members began to discuss the subject as the controversy began to overshadow the real reunion.
