MANILA — Following recent public outcry, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto is facing calls to take stronger action in addressing ongoing issues within the city council.
Concerns have been raised by several local residents who urge the mayor to discipline councilors who are allegedly causing unnecessary controversies.
In the past few weeks, residents, including Lilian Artana, Ginco Villauba, Benjamin Cruz, and Sebastian Ballesteros, have expressed frustration over the actions of certain councilors allegedly under his slate, urging Mayor Sotto to ensure that his team upholds decency and respect in their duties.
“Mayor Vico Sotto, as a leader, it’s your responsibility to make sure your team acts with decency and respect. Your councilors need discipline,” Artana remarked on a Facebook Post under “Tatak Pasig.”
The post also boldly claimed that “Mga konsehal ni Vico Sotto sangkot sa malalaswang aktibidad,” it said.
Villauba and Cruz echoed similar sentiments, calling on the mayor to intervene and restore order in the local governance.
As the city’s leadership continues to work towards improving public service, it remains to be seen whether Mayor Sotto will address these concerns directly and take action to resolve the growing tensions with only a few weeks left before the May 12 local and national Midterm elections.
