Manama: In a vibrant celebration of the 126th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence, the Philippine Embassy led by the Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to the Kingdom of Bahrain H.E. Anne Jalando-on Louis hosted a grand “Filipiniana Rondalla Concert” on June 14, 2024, at the Cultural Hall, Al Fateh.

The special event was organized in collaboration with Bagong Pilipinas and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
VIP Guests included Yusuf Lori, the Director of Information & Follow-Up for the Capital Governorate, members of the Diplomatic Corps, supporters and other invited officials. Dr. D. Gerard Joseph Louis, the spouse of Ambassador Louis, also graced the concert.

The unforgettable event commenced with the National Anthems performed by the Filipino Community Band, followed by welcome remarks from Ambassador Louis. The Filipiniana Rondalla was introduced by Consul Bryan Jess Baguio.

The concert featured a blend of Western Classics, including Carmen Overture, Disney Medley, Czardas, Beatles Medley, and Light Cavalry Overture. A special number was performed by Juliana Dekant, followed by a performance of “Nassam Alayna el Hawa” by Assi and Mansour Rahbani.

The highlight of the evening was the performance by the Filipiniana Rondalla, featuring Filipino Traditional Songs and Classics. The audience was treated to a variety of songs, including “Bukang Liwayway,” “Gabi ng mga Aswang,” “Pasodoble #6,” “Gaano Ko Ikaw Kamahal,” “Maala-ala Mo Kaya,” “Habanera Filipina no. 2,” “Fiesta Filipina,” “Pop Song Medley (Sana’y Maulit Muli/Sana’y Wala ng Wakas),” “Sitsiritsit Rhapsody,” and “Manila.”

Ambassador Louis extended her gratitude to all who attended and contributed to the success of the concert with special thanks to Gulf Air and Global Travel & Tours WLL. The event concluded with acknowledgments and the presentation of certificates and plaques of appreciation.
