By the time you read this column, the launch of my new book “SekSinema (Gender Images in Philippine Sex Cinema Enfolding Pandemia)” in the US at the Philippine Expressions Bookshop at 49 W. 6th Street, San Pedro, California is over.
But the amazing memories of the event have remained etched in my mind especially the attendance of movie and TV stars like Princess Punzalan, Edgar Mande, 1981 and 1998 Mutya ng Pilipinas winners Marilou Bendigo and Rochelle Romero Ong, respectively, and sexy Cebuana actress Rita Magdalena, among others.
Yes, Rita, the true blue Cebuana who never ceases to speak and talk in Visayan or particularly Cebuano even if she is already settled in the US.
Magdalena was honored to be part of the book on the history of Philippine sex cinema.
Before the launch, Rita expressed her excitement to be part of the gig that she even came with her American husband Christopher Bartleson.
Magdalena and Christopher have a young boy to shower their filial attention to.
The actress who was known to be the pretender to the throne of Rosanna Roces in the ST department would never bid showbiz adieu even if she’s abroad. As a matter of fact, she studied acting at the University of California in San Diego.
“Ang dami ko pang dapat matutunan,” Rita quipped.
Even if Magdalena has added pounds she’s still as alluring as a temptress.
