This decision has been warmly welcomed by various quarters, including the House of Representatives, with the Speaker, Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, commending PhilHealth for its proactive stance in addressing the needs of breast cancer patients.

While acknowledging the significance of the increased benefit package for breast cancer patients, Romualdez stressed the importance of early detection in saving lives. He urged PhilHealth to consider further expanding its coverage to include the costs of cancer screenings, enabling timely interventions that can significantly improve survival rates.

During the subsequent hearing of the House Committee on Health, PhilHealth officials — led by President and CEO Emmanuel Ledesma Jr. — pledged to adhere to Romualdez’s directive to improve the services and benefits provided to members. Ledesma highlighted various enhancements, including significant increases in benefit packages for conditions such as High-Risk Pneumonia and Acute Stroke.
